Hunting expedition with in-laws ends in death for 14 year-old

A 14-year-old student who went hunting with his elder brother and husbands of his two sisters in the Kattamuri forest area of Vakarai was killed when a gun in his brother-in-law’s hand had fired. The Wakarai Police

 said that the death had occurred when a trap gun for hunting animals had fired. It was N.Kidushan, a student resident at Thattamuna, Sinna, Vakarai who died in this unfortunate manner.

This student had gone hunting together with his 28-year-old elder brother and brothers-in-law aged 24 and 32 on June 26 night. It is said that they had taken two firearms with them.

According to the Vakarai police, the alleged accidental shooting and the death of the student had occurred on 27 June morning when they were returning home after having gone hunting. It has

been revealed that it was the gun which the 32-year-old brother-in-law was carrying that had been fired.

Police said with the student getting shot, they had hidden the gun that fired together with the other firearm, in the jungle.

The three persons who went hunting together with the student have been taken into custody on suspicion. The police said investigations are being carried out to find the firearm.
