“I am the most qualified candidate”, claims MP Wijeyedasa Rajapakshe
“There are few major common factors that the people of the country will be looking at from a Presidential candidate during the 2024 Presidential Election”, former Minister and the Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Front (NDF) Dr. Wijeyedasa Rajapakshe, PC said during a media briefing on Thursday (29).
“Firstly, people will look to see what the Presidential candidate has done for the people and the country during the past as a politician who has represented the citizens of the country in Parliament for many years”, the NDF Presidential candidate said.
MP Rajapakshe questioned if there are any other Presidential candidates besides him who have created Laws and Acts in Parliament as the legislative assembly to govern the country and people for their well-being. He said that MPs are elected by the people giving them the mandate to develop laws and Acts for good governance of the country which is their job. The NDF Presidential candidate said that only he has drafted and created laws and Acts out of all the 38 Presidential candidates.
“Secondly, the people will look to see if there are any charges or allegations of bribery or corruption filed against any of the Presidential candidates and I have no such charges or allegations against me of bribery or corruption”, he said.
“Have any of the Presidential candidates done anything to prevent or eradicate bribery or corruption in the country during their tenure as Parliamentarians and as political leaders? Because of the COPE Report that I developed and presented to Parliament, property and assets with many valuable state institutions including the Insurance Corporation, lands belonging to the Port, Ceylon Transport Board (CTB), Apollo Hospital worth more than Rs. 300 to 400 million were recovered back to the State through my individual effort through legal cases filed by Court decisions”, Rajapakshe said.
Also, what have the Presidential candidates won for the country and its people? Rajapakshe said that the entire country knows what he has won for the people and the nation. Are the candidates educated, have political experience and are they honest and transparent? The NDF Presidential candidate Wijeyedasa Rajapakshe said that he is qualified in all these major common factors that the people look for in a Presidential candidate to become the President of Sri Lanka.
