Samagi Jana Sandhanaya (SJS) Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa said that before Ranil Wickremesinghe makes a deal with Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the passports and visa queues should be abolished.

Premadasa said that the aim of Ranil Wickremesinghe and Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who are destroying the country and setting it on fire, is to defeat him by any means. Accordingly, he pointed out that these two have shared their second preferences with each other.

However, Premadasa said that he does not need a second preference since SJS will win in the first round at the forthcoming Presidential Election.

He emphasised that the President who failed to issue a passport or visa, cannot solve the problems of the country or people. He added that the absence of a proper system for issuing passports and visas is affecting the economy and even the tourism sector is collapsing due to this.

Premadasa made these remarks while addressing the 41st victory rally of the SJS for the 2024 Presidential Election, held in Kandy, on Monday (9).

He further said that visa and passport queues were created due to the government’s corrupt deals. Under a SJB government, the thefts that led to the visa and passport queues will be exposed to the people and the wrongdoers will be brought to justice.

The Opposition Leader further said that uncultivated state lands will be distributed to the youth in the plantation sector to empower them as tea smallholders.

Premadasa said that because there are housing problems everywhere, a formal city development programme will be presented. Since water is a basic human right, several water projects will be implemented in areas where there is scarcity of water.

He added that the era of villagers building houses will be started once again.
