Apeksha Hospital Director Dr. Aruna Jayasekara said that four of the 12 pharmacists working in the Anticancer Drug Preparation Unit of the hospital will be transferred internally this week.
He said that the remaining 8 pharmacists will be transferred in the next six months, and it is not possible to transfer all the pharmacists working at the unit at once. These internal transfers are made based on the case of a pharmacist of the hospital selling a stock of drugs and vaccines donated to the hospital for money.
He said that if all of them are transferred at once, there will be a problem with mixing of medicines etc. and they will be transferred within the next few months after other pharmacists are assigned to fill the vacancies and are given the required training. He said that 4 of the 12 pharmacists working in this unit will be transferred internally in the next 6 months, and that these transfers will be done to prevent any fraud regarding medicines in the future.
