Investment opportunities discussed with S. Korea

Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea, Choo Kyung-ho met with the State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe at the Annual Conference on International Monetary Fund and World Bank. The Minister stated that the Investments in Sri Lanka together with the job opportunities offered to Sri Lankans were discussed thereon.

Lessons learned from the economic crisis in Korea for recovery and growth were discussed and the experience gathered will be important for Sri Lanka’s ongoing reforms. The Minister said that the Deputy Prime Minister assured that South Korea will continue to provide support and cooperation to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, the State Minister also joined the Ministerial Meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action where the weather measures that can contribute to the transformation of climate policies were discussed.

Semasinghe said that the discussion was extended regarding the way of accelerating the measures in the public sector to enable the private sector to increase the investment opportunities as the solutions to reduce natural and climate impacts.

The Commonwealth Finance Ministers’ meeting was also held concurrently with the conference where the importance of increasing the financing for climate changes and Green Financing were discussed together with the measures needed to achieve sustainable development.
