Former Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) party leader Maavai Senathirajah announced his stepping down from participating in the party’s decision-making processes and other activities as of last Thursday (10).
Senadhirajah stated that he felt the need for a period of silence and rest, prompting his decision to withdraw.
Former MP S.Sivamohan revealed that Senadhirajah was deeply distressed by several events that took place during the nomination process.
It is reported that certain individuals who had previously been excluded from the party were included in the final nominations of the ITAK without informing Senathirajah, which contributed to the crisis. The party had already been divided, and Senathirajah had made significant efforts to reconcile the factions. However, his attempts were undermined by two party members who opposed unity and actively worked to further divide the party, causing Senathirajah stress, according to former MP Sivamohan. Senathirajah has refrained from making any public statements to the media regarding these developments.
