JAK Plastics (Pvt) Ltd, a pioneer in the plastic manufacturing sector in Sri Lanka, won the Silver Award in the rubber, plastics and related products category at the Industrial Excellence Awards organised by the Industrial Development Board (IDB).

The awards ceremony was held under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Minister of Industries Wimal Weerawansa at Waters’ Edge.

“Sri Lanka currently imports a significant amount of plastic products from China. As a solution to this, attention has been given to increase plastic production in Sri Lanka. Our company places a high priority on quality in the process of manufacturing. I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff who have supported this achievement,” said J.A. Karunatilake, the chairman of the company. Established in 2006 as a small scale enterprise, JAK Plastics (Pvt) Ltd currently hosts over 150 workers across several manufacturing plants. The success of JAK Plastics is attributed to their dedication to cater to customers’ needs and manufacturing durable plastic products with modern designs. 60% of the company’s products are manufactured using recycled plastic. Currently, the company uses about 10 tonnes of recycled plastic daily and plans to expand their capacity in the future.
