Janasetha Peramuna Chairman Nilantha Kumara Ranasinghe who was wanted in connection with attacking and threatening a group of people who were cleaning a building
in Pothuhera Arambepola, surrendered to the Pothuhera Police on Monday (17) through a lawyer.
Kurunegala Deputy Inspector General Anil Priyantha said that the Potuhera Police has arrested him.
Police said that the suspect was produced before the Polgahawela Magistrate’s Court yesterday (18) and remanded until April 27. It is said that Ranasinghe had threatened the former occupants of this building as well on several occasions.
Police said that this building was recently bought by a Kandy resident to establish a Japanese vocational training center and a Japanese language center. Police said that a group including the person who bought the building had come on April 8 and cleaned the place and spent the night that day.
A group of about 10 people including Nilantha Kumara Ranasinghe had come to the place at around 10 that night and had attacked the occupants. Police are investigating to arrest the other persons who came for the attack.
