Goods and equipment worth 8.4 million US dollars donated by the Japanese government were handed over to airport officials in a ceremony held at the Katunayake Airport Gold Route Terminal yesterday (29) afternoon.
These donations include ambulances, garbage trucks, self-loading garbage cans, latest C-2 technology passenger baggage scanners, baggage scanners, toilets systems, medical devices, necessary equipment for electronic immigration windows for immigration officers (Electronic Gate), passport scanners and digital boards used to display information at various points in the airport were among this stock of goods. Japan’s Deputy Ambassador to Sri Lanka Kamoshida Naoaki, Senior Manager of the Institute for International Migrants Shantha Kulasekara, Airports and Aviation Services Company Limited Chairman retired Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, Katunayake Airport Information Technology Division Chief Udaya Lokuarachchi, Airport Management Chief Aruna Rajapaksa and a large group of distinguished guests attended this event.
A part of the aid given in this way is going to be given to the Maldives and the Colombo Port.
