A grant of 40,000 metric tonnes of diesel has been received from Japan for the transportation of ambulances and other health services in this country.
The consignment was officially handed over to the Health Ministry at the “Dolphin Jetty” terminal in Colombo Port yesterday (19).
The Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Misukoshi Hideaki presented the grant to Health and Industry Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana.
A Fuel Management Information System (FIMS) has been created for the distribution of the 40,000 metric tons of diesel received as a grant to health institutions, and the system includes all the information about the vehicles that have received fuel, the amount of fuel received, and all the information about the health institutions.
All these activities has been conducted under the direct supervision of the Japanese government.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation which provides continuous supply of petroleum products, carries out fuel distribution activities.
Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, Health Secretary Dr.Palitha Mahipala and Health Ministry officials participated in this occasion.
