Japanese FM, delegation here on July 28

The Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi will arrive in Sri Lanka on July 28 for a two-day official visit with the hope of further strengthening the existing bilateral cooperation with Sri Lanka, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said. The Japanese Foreign Minister is accompanied by a delegation consisting of 24 for this visit to Sri Lanka and they will stay in the country for two days, according to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan.

The Japanese Foreign Minister, who is coming to Sri Lanka, is expected to discuss Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring process and new ways of bilateral cooperation. During his stay in Sri Lanka, the Foreign Minister will also meet President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Foreign Minister Ali Sabry.

This is the first time that a Japanese minister will visit Sri Lanka after 2019 and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Japan points out that this visit is equally important for Sri Lanka and Japan.
