Jessie Seneviratne crowned Best Swimmer

Jessie Seneviratne from Holy Family Convent clinched the title of Best Swimmer at the three-day All Island Schools Games Swimming Championships, which concluded at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool on Monday.

Competing in the Under-18 Age Group, Jessie secured three gold medals in all the events she participated in. Notably, she set a new meet record in the 50m butterfly, clocking a swift 30.09 seconds to claim the gold medal, erasing the previous record of 30.51 seconds set by Nabashi Perera just last year.

Jessie’s remarkable achievements didn’t stop there. She went on to secure two more gold medals in the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle events, achieving her personal best timings of 28.57 and 1.01.82 respectively.

With these outstanding performances, Jessie Seneviratne earned the highest FINA point total of 585, cementing her position as the Best Female Swimmer of the three-day championship.

Furthermore, Jessie has already qualified as a member of the 44-member Sri Lanka squad for the 11th Asian Age Group Swimming Championship scheduled to take place in the Philippines in December later this year.
