Women and Child Affairs State Minister Geetha Kumarasinghe told Parliament yesterday that the female warden of the children’s detention centre in Kalmunai who was arrested on suspicion of killing a 15-year-old child after severely assaulting him, has not received any vocational training and professional qualifications.
She said that an internal investigation has been started to ascertain whether the relevant warden was recruited on incorrect procedure. According to the investigations, even though she has passed the examination, she has not obtained any professional training, the State Minister said.
State Minister Kumarasinghe also said that the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs will soon train probation officers across the country.
