Kelaniya University secures global recognition in World University rankings
Kelaniya University has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing a position in the 1501+ category in the World University Rankings 2025, placing it third among Sri Lankan universities, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025. The university has also distinguished itself in the Clinical and Health category, achieving a rank between 801–1,000 worldwide.
This year, the Times Higher Education has ranked 2,092 universities from 115 countries and territories, and 185 new entries have been included when compared with last year.
Recognised as the world’s most comprehensive evaluation of university performance, Times Higher Education’s latest WUR 3.0 methodology includes 18 carefully calibrated indicators to assess institutions across five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement and international outlook.
This recognition underscores the university’s dedication to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and international collaboration, making it a leader in higher education both locally and globally.
