Kendu leaves worth over 175 Kgs seized

A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Seeduwa Police STF in Nainamadama area of Seeduwa on Wednesday (23) led to the recovery of over 175 Kgs of smuggled Kendu leaves in an abandoned house in the locality.

The special operation was conducted by SLNS Kelani in the Western Naval Command in coordination with the Seeduwa Police STF in Nainamadama on the evening of August 23. During this operation, the Navy and STF personnel searched a house in the locality on suspicion and seized over 175 Kgs of smuggled Kendu leaves in 10 packages, stashed in the house.

The consignment of Kendu leaves seized in this operation was handed over to the Excise Station Waikkala for further action.
