Key SLFP leaders, organisers pledge support to President
A group of prominent and long-standing activists from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) have come together to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s campaign for this year’s Presidential Election.
This group includes former Deputy Minister and Kalutara District MP Priyangani Abeyweera, the chief organiser for the SLFP in the Kalutara constituency; Praveen Dias Bandaranaike, the chief organiser in the Gampaha constituency and relative of S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike; Shantha Ratnayake, the chief organiser in Kolonna; Sagara Suren Ediriweera, the organiser in the Deniyaya constituency; Vijayamuni Nipuna Zoysa, the organiser in the Pottuvil constituency; Tilak Waragoda, the organiser in Kelaniya; Asita Wegodopola, the organiser in Laggala; and Chamila Silva, the organiser in the Gampaha district.
These leaders visited President Wickremesinghe’s political office in Flower Road, Colombo, yesterday (26), to pledge their full support for his victory. They emphasised that President Wickremesinghe had rescued the country’s economy by uniting all parties during a time of economic collapse and stressed that this progress must not be reversed.
They also highlighted that despite efforts by Sajith Premadasa and Anura Kumara Dissanayake to mislead the public, the people of Sri Lanka are beginning to recognise the truth.
