Killer Whale Aquatics (KWA) had a remarkable performance on Day Two of the Sri Lanka’s National Swimming Championships held at Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Complex. They won a total of seven gold medals out of 19 finals, demonstrating their dominance in the competition.
Anusara Abeygoonawardane from KWA stood out by securing two gold medals. He emerged victorious in the men’s 200m freestyle and 200m Individual Medley finals. Another standout swimmer from KWA was Adeetha Siriwardana, who claimed the gold medal in the men’s 100m backstroke. Ramudi Samarakoon showcased her skills and won the women’s 50m breaststroke gold medal. Ganga Seneviratne also contributed to KWA’s success by winning the women’s 100m backstroke gold medal.
In addition to the individual medals, KWA’s men’s 400m Medley Relay team, consisting of Adeetha Siriwardana, Nevan Senarathne, Anusara Abeygoonawardane, and Kyle Abeysinghe, secured the gold medal in their event.
KWA’s women’s 400m Medley Relay team, comprising Ganga Seneviratne, Ramudi Samarakoon, Minuri Bartholamuse, and Akithmi Wasalathanthri, also emerged victorious and claimed a gold medal. Ananda College swimmers also had a notable performance, winning two gold medals. NN Dabare won the under-15 boys 50m breaststroke gold medal. Additionally, Ananda College’s boys under-15 200m freestyle relay team, consisting of Hiran Natheesha, TT Wickramaratne, YR Kulasinghe, and NN Dabare, secured the gold medal in their event.
Tharulya de Silva from Leeds International School showcased her talent by winning two gold medals. The 14-year-old rising star claimed the women’s under-15 200m freestyle gold medal and the 400m Individual Medley gold medal.
