Sri Lanka under 19’s were in a commanding position as they scored 326 all out in their first innings and West Indies once again struggled in their second innings scoring 251 for 8 wickets after the third day’s play in their second four-day cricket fixture played at Rangiri Dambulla International cricket stadium yesterday.

After the West Indies youth team was bundled out for 127 in their first innings Sri Lanka youth team made a good total, 326 all out and in the Caribbean youth player’s second essay only Jordan Johnson made an unbeaten 133 in 136 balls with 16 fours and 2 sixes but others failed to impress with the bat. The left hander Johnson who scored 149 in their first four day at this same venue last week once again played a fighting innings to complete his back-to-back century.

Earlier Sri Lanka made 326 all out in their first innings while Dinura Kalupahana (33), Sharujan Shanmuganathan (36) and hard hitting stroke maker Malsha Tharupathi played brisk innings making 70 in 49 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes to build up the total. In fact Tharupathi who took three wickets in the first innings once again took 2 wickets in the second innings and has shown a good all-round performance.

West Indies have a 52-run lead with two wickets in hand but Sri Lanka under 19s hope to get the last two wickets quickly to chase their target to record a win today.
