Lawyer arrested for obstructing duties of Judicial Registrar

A lawyer has been arrested for allegedly obstructing the duties of the Judicial Registrar and other Judicial Officers of the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court, said Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa.

When the Registrar of Courts of the Colombo Magistrate’s Court went to the scene on Wednesday (2), under police protection, to enforce the order issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court regarding the possession of a house at Kakawiratne Place, Wellawatte, the suspect’s lawyer disobeyed the court order and obstructed the duties of the Registrar and police officers. The lawyer was arrested following a complaint, the police spokesman said.

The lawyer is a 39-year-old resident of Pannipitiya. He was to be produced before the Colombo No. 3 Magistrate’s Court yesterday, the spokesman said.
