The much- awaited Sri Lanka’s second three day Culinary Champions Competition 2024, organized by Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services ( LECS) will be held in Sahas Uyana, Kandy from October 31, November 01 and 02.
The event is supported by the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Cultural Triangle Hoteliers Associations and sponsored by Unilever food solutions and several other organizations.
The competition will be represented by 460 local talented chefs, hoteliers and also representatives from hotel schools. According to organizers the competition is an excellent platform for chefs to demonstrate their skills, promote culinary excellence and showcase the diversity of Sri Lankan cuisine, the abilities of chefs, cooks, pastry chefs and apprentices from this region.
Addressing a media briefing at Hilton, Colombo Residences, Project Director and Chief Chef Alan Palmer said the objective of holding this Culinary Champions Competition is to showcase the skills and creativity of both experienced professionals and rising stars of the Sri Lankan culinary industry. The very first culinary competition was held in Kandy last year and the participants welcomed the organizers for conducting such an event.
LECS, Director Husnie Rauf said talented chefs will compete 17 various competition categories including traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, decorated cakes, fruit and vegetable carvings, ice carvings, bread and pastry display hot cooking fish fillet, hot cooking poultry and seafood, Asian noodles, desserts, team challenge, iced mocktails, creative table set-up, BBQ sausage platter etc. He said a panel of renowned local and international chefs headed by Chief Judge Alan Palmer will judge the contestants based on creativity, technique presentation and taste of food.
“Attendees could also witness live cooking demonstrations by the competitors,” he said.
Meanwhile the organizers invite all hotels, restaurants and food and beverage outlets to attend this three-day event.
