Leonid meteor shower seen on 18 and 19

Colombo University Physics Department Astronomer Dr. Janaka Adassuriya said Sri Lankans will be able to see the peak of the leonid meteor shower on Saturday (18) and Sunday (19).

He also stated that these meteors can be seen after 2 am during these two days when looking at the Leo constellation along the eastern horizon.

“Here you can see an amount between 10-15 meteors per hour and this is not a meteor shower where a large number of meteors are seen,” he added.
