The licenses of five liquor manufacturing companies have been suspended.
It is reported that the license were suspended due to failure to pay taxes in time.
Excise Commissioner General Saman Jayasinghe said that the production of alcohol and the distribution of product stocks of these companies were also banned.
He also said that the annual license of those companies which had not paid the arrears for a long time expired on October 30 and due to this their licenses were not renewed.
