Lisal Goonathilake of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia had a tense battle with Tharuk Marasinghe and bagged the under-14 boys’ singles title in a three setter final (4/6, 6/4, 10/8) as the 106th Tennis Nationals worked off at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts yesterday.
Women’s doubles semifinals saw Savini Jayasuriya of Gateway International and Janali Manamperi of MAS Holding defeating Sajida Razick and Zeenath Zihar 6/2,7/5. The remaining semifinal of women’s doubles was played between Neyara Weerasena of British School in Colombo partnered by Tuvini De Alwis (Methadist College) and Anjalika Kurera with Oneli Perera. As Anjalika retired in the first set (4/1), Neyara and Tuvini had a comfortable victory. Savini and Janali will take on Neyara and Tuvini in the women’s doubles final.
