A protest campaign organised by the state officers of the Madurawela Divisional Secretariat was held on Tuesday (12) at the Yala junction, Anguruwathota, during the lunch hour against the Anguruwatota Police who allegedly did not take action against a man who had assaulted a Census Officer when the latter went to his house for enumeration recently.
The protesters said that the Anguruwatota OIC had not submitted facts properly to the Horana Court about a civilian who had threatened a Census Officer when the latter visited his house for enumeration. The householder who had been after liquor, had scolded and threatened the officer.
Protesters displayed placards and banners during the one-hour protest and then dispersed peacefully.
