A programme to felicitate teachers was held at Homagama Mahinda Rajapaksa College on October 6, to coincide with World Teachers’ Day.
It was jointly organised by the college prefects, the college Red Cross Society and the media association.
The principal of the college, 275 teachers from the teaching staff and several teachers who are to retire soon were
felicitated.
Forty teachers volunteered to donate their bodies to medical colleges after their death and 66 teachers expressed their willingness to donate organs after death.
A medical clinic on non-communicable diseases for teachers was also held with the participation of doctors and staff of the Homagama Hospital.
The event was organised under the guidance of Principal Sarath Bandu Gunasekara and a group of people including the Medical Director of Homagama Teaching Hospital, Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara. Retired Principal Harischandra Ekanayake was also present.
