Mahinda Rajapaksa Cricket Tourney held successfully in Nuwara Eliya

The annual cricket tournament for the Mahinda Rajapaksa challenge trophy was held on Saturday at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council Playground under the patronage of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa

In addition to the former President MP Namal Rajapaksa, Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Nandana Galaboda and SSP of Nuwara Eliya Anurudda Hakmana were present on the occasion. Two cricket matches were played between State Ministers and MPs of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna in which the MPs team emerged victorious.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa plays a shot

Gayashan Nawanandana was the man of the tournament while W.D. Weerasinghe was the best batsman The best bowler award went to Premalal Jayasekara, while CB Ratnayake was adjudged best fielder. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa gave away the awards to the winners.

Kandy district MP Thilak Rajapakse was injured and was admitted to Nuwera Eliiya Hospital and latter transferred to Kandy General Hospital for further treatment
