Malaysia’s National Day celebrated

The celebrations for Malaysia’s 66th National Day were held at the Shangri-La Hotel Colombo recently.

The Chief Guest Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC along with Malaysian Embassy Counsellor Mohammad Tuming cut the cake.

Counsellor Tuming was representing the High Commissioner Badli Hisham Adam who is out of the island because of his mother’s death. The national day reception started with a minute silence as a mark of respect to the High Commissioner’s deceased mother.

Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva, Labour Minister and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara, Trade, Commerce and Food Security Minister Nalin Fernando, Foreign Affairs State Minister Tharaka Balasuriya, Higher Education State Minister Suren Raghavan, Uva Province Governor A.J.M. Muzammil, Eastern Province Governor Senthil Thondaman, MPs, Ambassadors, Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council President M.H.K.M. Hameez and members, and embassy officials were also present.
