Man gets life sentence for peddling heroin

An accused who was found guilty for possessing and peddling over 120 grams of heroin was yesterday sentenced to life imprisonment by the Colombo High Court.

 

Following a lengthy trial, Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne observed that the prosecution has proved the charges beyond reasonable doubt against the accused.

 

Considering the evidence that transpired during the trial, the Colombo High Court Judge sentenced him to life imprisonment. The Attorney General filed an indictment against the accused comprising two charges for possessing and trafficking of 123.67 grams of heroin.

 

The accused was arrested with the heroin at Piliyandala area on June 18 in 2013.
