Man hacked to death in Mattakkuliya

A group of people who had come in a three-wheeler, had attacked a person who was standing in front of a house on Mill Road Mattakkuliya, with cleavers and killed him on Thursday (30) and fled.

The police said that a three-wheeler driver named Mohammad Irshad (39) was hacked to death.

The Mattakkuliya Police stated that the investigation revealed that the murder was a result of a personal dispute.

According to the police the murder had taken place at around 8.15 pm and the person had been taken to the Colombo National Hospital by neighbours. Police also said that he had been dead by the time he was admitted to the hospital. The police said further that they have identified who killed this person. According to the information received by the police, four persons had been involved in this murder and that those people are also residents of Mattakkuliya.
