Man throws acid at wife’s paramour at Pera Hospital

Police have arrested a person who attacked a person with acid, who allegedly had an affair with his wife, in the Outpatient Treatment Department of the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital yesterday (28) afternoon.

According to the police, when the suspect threw acid at his wife’s paramour, four persons who had come to the OPD to obtain treatment had to be hospitalized as the acid had hit them as well.

The suspect, a resident of Mawanella had known that his wife’s paramour was due to go to the

Peradeniya Teaching Hospital to obtain treatment during the afternoon of yesterday (28) and come there himself. Police investigations had revealed that, when the victim was standing in a

queue until his turn arrived for treatment the suspect had gone up close to him and thrown the acid.

The Peradeniya police are carrying out further investigations.
