During a special raid carried out in the Bogahapelessa Forest Reserve by a team of Badalgama Police officers, a suspect has been arrested day before
yesterday (22) together with a number of locally manufactured firearms.
The police media spokesman’s office said that among the firearms discovered were seven trap guns, and 16 ‘maruwel’ and 14 lead balls used in firearms.
The police said that these guns had been set up in the forest reserve with the objective of hunting wild animals. They also said that these guns had been placed by a 63-year-old resident of Bogahapelessa and that he has been taken into custody.
The suspect was scheduled to be produced before the Moneragala Magistrate’s Court together with the firearms that were found.
