Many SJB and NPP members will join UNP – Former SJB candidate

Ashoka Herath, who contested the last General Election from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), stated that a number of members from the SJB and National People’s Power (NPP) representing the Nuwara Eliya district will join him to support the UNP and ensure the victory of President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the upcoming Presidential Election.

Herath further stated that he was a SJB candidate from the Nuwara Eliya District for the last General Election, but resigned from the SJB due to multiple disappointments with the party, and subsequently joined the UNP.

He also emphasized that a group of people who gave nominations for the Nuwara Eliya district Local Government polls representing the SJB and NPP also sided with President Wickremesinghe to support him in the upcoming Presidential Election. More supporters of the SJB will side with President Wickremesinghe in the future, he added.
