Marikkar says he likes if President RW builds this country

SJB Media Spokesman and Deputy National Organizer MP S.M. Marikkar said that he likes even if President Ranil Wickremesinghe builds this country and it is necessary to implement long-term solutions rather than patchwork solutions for the country’s problems.

He was speaking at a Press Conference held at the Opposition Leader’s office. He said that the sources of income must be increased in order to find such solutions to these problems and  no matter what anyone says, the economy created by former President R.Premadasa still exists in the country.

“When the former Government imposed tax concessions, the ability to pay the debts of the people decreased. Because of this, the Government had to go for an IMF bailout. But the purpose of going to the IMF should be to revive the economy and not to agree to its terms. The IMF only looks at the ability to repay the debt. Therefore, this debt can be paid not only by selling Government institutions, increasing taxes and increasing interest rates, but also by looking for new sources of income,” he said.
