Marketing manager arrested for Rs.40 Mn fraud

The Criminal Investigation Department on Wednesday evening arrested a marketing manager of a leading pharmaceutical company in connection with a fraud of nearly Rs.40 million.

The suspect, 34, is a resident of Molpe in Moratuwa.

It has been revealed during investigations that the suspect has committed this fraud by changing bills while selling and buying medicines.

Information about this fraud, which has been carried out very meticulously for a long time, has been revealed during an audit. The investigation into this fraud began based on complaint made by the senior management of the company to the Criminal Investigation Department.

The suspect was produced before Mount Lavinia magistrate’s court yesterday.
