Maruthamunai Olympic Sports Club soccer champion

Olympic Sports Club, Maruthamunai emerged champions of the ‘Dr. Siraz Meerasahib Challenge Trophy-2022’ flood-lit beach Soccer Tournament conducted by the Maruthamunai Beach Youngers’ Organization when they beat the defending champions Marutham Sports Club, Maruthamunai by 2:1 on a penalty shootout in the finals played at Maruthamunai Beach show recently.

Kalmunai Municipal Councilor and Tournament Committee Chairman A.R.A.Ameer organized this tournament. The tournament saw a record number of prominent teams from the region participating.

Maruthamunai, Olympic Sports Club beat Maruthamunai Marutham Sports Club in the final. Due to high competition between the teams. Metropolitan College Chairman and former Kalmunai Municipality Mayor Dr. Siraz Meerasahib and Akkaraipattu Municipal Councilor and Akkaraipattu All Mosques’ Federation President S.M.Safees participated as the Chief Guests at the final and award ceremony.

Winners were awarded champion trophy and Rs.30,000.00 cash prize by the Chief Guests and the Maruthamunai Marutham Sports Club was awarded a cash prize and trophy at the award ceremony.

Ampara District Football League (ADFL) President Y.K.Rahman, General Secretary M.H.M.Abdul Manaff, Treasurer S.Mohamed Khan, Deputy President and District Referees Association President M.B.M.Rasheed, were present.
