Matale Quazi member in bribery net

The Bribery Commission arrested a Quazi member on Tuesday (30) for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs.50,000 from a woman and accepting Rs.10,000 of the bribe.

The arrest followed a complaint made by the woman, who claimed that she had provided the quasi-judge with documents for a case seeking Rs.80,000 in compensation for maintenance and defamation. The quasi-judge allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000 to facilitate the process and provide the compensation.

The suspect was apprehended at his home in Warakamura in Matale.
