Mercantile Soccer resumes

Mercantile Football Association (MFA) League Tournament 2023which was put on hold for sometime due to adverse weather conditions got back on track with their Division I, Division II and Division III second round matches at three venues, namely the City League ground, Colombo 2, Sri Lanka Football Federation Training Centre, Baddegana and Weerasinghe Mallimarachchi Stadium, Maddinnagoda, with nine matches being played.

Results:

Division I (One Match): Traveler Global beat Akbar Bros. 3/1; (M. Rifas scored a hat-trick for the winners and M. Mujeeb scored the solitary goal for Akbar Bros).

Division II (4 matches): HNB Vs. Amana Bank ended on a 2/all draw; Lakshan Perera and G Ishara scored for HNB and for Amana IM Safran scored one and one was an own goal;

Sampath Bank beat HNB, 3/1; (D. Dilshan, S. Sandesh and R W Nawood scored for the Sampath and J. Mujeer scored the solitary goal for HNB) HNB Assurance beat Amana Bank, 1/0; the goal was scored by Hirushan Fernando.

Sampath Bank beat Amana Bank, 2-nil; both goals were scored by S. Sandesh. Division III (4 matches): HSBC beat Commercial Bank, 1/nil; the goal was scored by Ajmal Saldin;

Sri Lankan Airlines beat Softlogic Holdings, 3/1; MCU Jayatillaka (1) and MRM Riyaz (2) scored for the SLA and DS Suranga was the solitary scorer for Softlogic;

Commercial Bank Vs. Softlogic Holdings ended in a nil-all draw Sri Lankan Airlines beat HSBC, 4- nil; MRM Riyaz (3) and MCV Jayatillake (1) were the goal scorers for SLA.
