Minor tremor felt in Badalkumbura, Moneragala

Moneragala Disaster Management Center Deputy Director Ravindra Kumara said many villagers felt the shaking of the ground for about four seconds due to a suspected minor earth tremor that occurred at 9.06 am yesterday (21) in an area between Badalkumbura and Moneragala.

The deputy director said that the Bureau of Geological Survey and Mines had mentioned that this tremor was recorded at 2.6 on the Richter scale. People of many villages in Moneragala, Buttala

Badalkumbura and Wellawaya area had felt the ground shaking for a few seconds but no damage has been reported. The Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Center Ravindra Kumara said that he is visiting the area with a group of officials and conducting investigations.
