Missing pistol found near garbage dump

Kotahena Police said that the pistol which was missing from the Kotahena Police Station was found near a garbage bin yesterday (28).

A senior police officer said that after checking the safe box containing firearms, a police sergeant informed the Officer in Charge that one pistol was missing along with a magazine containing five bullets.

The whole police station was searched for the firearm and later, it was found near the garbage bin.

The senior police officer said that it is suspected that the person who stole it may have got cold feet and placed it near the garbage bin. He further said that investigations are still underway.
