Governor Dr. Weerasinghe also stated that the Central Bank mainly borrows from short term tenure T-bills to manage high costs.
Governor said further money printing has reduced in the first 10 months of 2022 compared to the whole year of 2021. Accordingly, the Central Bank has printed money to the tune of Rs. 341 billion in 2021 and this figure has dropped to Rs. 47 billion during the first ten months of 2022.
