A monk who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department for the non payment of the hotel bill after staying 18 days at Hilton Hotel, was ordered to be remanded till November 11 by Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday.
The CID informed the Magistrate that the said monk had failed to pay Rs.527,800.00 to the hotel.
The investigation has been initiated following a complaint lodged by Kosala Fernando, who works in the guests services department in the Hilton Hotel.
The monk was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital due to an illness that occurred when he was about to be presented to court. However, the Magistrate went to the Colombo National Hospital and ordered to remand the monk until November 11. On August 31, the Thera arrived to Hilton hotel and booked a hotel room there.
The monk, who stayed there until September 19, was referred to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment due to an illness through 1990 ambulance.
