Colombo Additional Magistrate Manjula Ratnayake yesterday (31) issued notice to the Public Administration Ministry to appear in Court on September 19 to reconsider the order given by the Court to evict former Health Minister  Prof. Channa Jayasumana from the official residence where he is staying now.

The Magistrate made this order after considering the arguments presented by the lawyers in a motion before court requesting that the former minister be allowed to stay in the house.

Attorney R.A.P.Ranawaka appearing for the former Health Minister said that the order given by the court is unilateral and his client is legally staying at the official residence.

The lawyer also presented a letter issued by the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka granting permission to his client to stay at this house as his house was destroyed by the violent mobs last year. Before giving this order, the lawyer mentioned that the minister had paid the rent for the house and presented the receipts of the said money to the court.

After considering the submission by the accused, the Magistrate issued a notice to the Public Administration Ministry to reconsider the dismissal order and adjourned the summoning of the case to September 19.
