MP, two others stuck in elevator for 30 minutes

Kandy District Coordinating Committee Chairman, Member of Parliament Gunathilaka Rajapaksha and his two security officers were stuck in the Kandy District Secretariat elevator for nearly 30 minutes yesterday.

The elevator had suddenly stopped working due to a technical fault while the MP and his security officers were on their way to the Kandy District Coordinating Committee office in the Kandy District Secretariat building. The Police officers on duty in the Secretariat had taken them out with great effort.

The Parliamentarian said that he faced this predicament when he was going to the Coordination Committee office on the second floor of the Kandy District Secretariat.

The MP said that when the elevator was out of order, the emergency notification button was not working as well, so he and other people were in a helpless situation and he informed the Kandy District Secretary about the matter as well.
