MPs Mahinda Rajapaksa, Vajira Abeyawardena pledge to help President

Former President, SLPP Leader and Kurunegala District Parliamentarian Mahinda Rajapaksa told the Daily News that new President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is capable of taking the country forward to develop it economically, yesterday (25) in Kurunegala. He also said that all patriotic citizens of this country have to support the new President for that objective as a nation. “Despite different political ideologies, our paramount duty is to make this country prosperous in every field and hence, let’s work together to achieve that aim”, MP Rajapaksa added.

Central Working Committee of the SLPP is now holding discussions as to how the SLPP can help the new Government to launch its development plans and the SLPP has not arrived at a final decision on what way the SLPP should help the new President Anura Dissanayake, Mahinda Rajapaksa added.

UNP Chairman and MP Vajira Abeywardana too told the media yesterday (25) that all political parties and their supporters have to extend their fullest support to the new President Anura Dissanayake to continue his development plans. Since the General Election has already been declared, all Parliamentarians who are to be elected from that General Election have to support Anura Dissanayake’s Government irrespective of petty political differences to overcome the present economic crisis to dawn a better tomorrow for the people of this country, he added.
