MSU Colombo Alumni, Doctoral students organise annual seminar

The Management and Science University (MSU) Colombo Alumni chapter, in collaboration with the Doctoral students, hosted its annual seminar on July 22.

The event aimed to benefit students while recognising the remarkable achievements of esteemed Alumni members, in alignment with the university’s overarching goals.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, President of Management and Science University (MSU) Malaysia and Management and Science Institute Colombo, the seminar took place at Galadari Hotel, Colombo. The keynote speech was presented by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shukri, President of MSU & MSI.

The Alumni members and students from Management and Science University (MSU), Colombo, along with the support of MSU’s main campus in Malaysia, also participated in a Tree Planting campaign at Vihara Mahadevi Park, Colombo. This environmental initiative reflected the university’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

The recipients of the Academic Excellence Awards 2023 at the event, were Prof. Dr. Harendra N. Kariyawasam, Prof. Dr. Kaldeen Mohemed Mubarak, Prof. Dr. Sudath Manjula Amarasena, Prof. Dr. Rangana Sri Shalika, Prof. Dr. Thakshila Kumari, Prof. Dr. Sujith Shyaman Udayanga, and Prof. Dr. Gamini Hemakumara.

Recognising excellence beyond the university, the conference also honored outstanding professionals in the industry. Dr. Kingsley Bernard, Chair of EDB and Dr. Sumith De Silva are recipients of the Excellence in Industry Professionalism Award 2023, acknowledging their contributions.

The Management and Science Institute (MSI), is a reputed higher educational establishment affiliated with Management and Science University, Malaysia, has been making significant strides in Sri Lanka for the past fourteen years.

The enthusiasm of MSU students is evident in the upcoming World Tourism Day celebrations on September 27, 2023. The Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (Hons) Degree students will embark on a mission to plant hundred trees in the Colombo Port city area. The ceremony, officiated by the President and Vice-Chancellor of MSU, will take place at Vihara Maha Devi Park, symbolizing the university’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

This annual event, organized by the Alumni members and PhD (post graduate) students, celebrates both academic accomplishments and the university’s dedication to sustainability and excellence in various fields.
