Namal assures President of his full support

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa said that his efforts to set up a new political culture in the country instead of the politics of promises and slander have been successful to some extent.

Namal Rajapaksa, issuing a statement after the final results of the Presidential Election were officially announced by the Election Commission, thanked all the voters who embraced him as the young Presidential candidate who contested the 2024 Presidential Election.

Rajapaksa said he knows that there are hundreds of thousands of people in the country who are waiting for his programme presented during his campaign even though they may not have marked a preference for him this time and said that if the people wanted to teach them a lesson, he and his party will learn that lesson and will be prepared to face the people’s test again in the future.

He said that by looking at the Presidential Election results it was evident that the new President has been decided this time by the popular mandate of the 6.9 million voters who had previously rejected the country’s opposition parties.

Namal Rajapaksa said that the SLPP will give its full support to the good work of the newly elected President for the people of Sri Lanka.

“I would like to take this opportunity to offer my and the SLPP’s best wishes to the current President,” Rajapaksa said.
