NDB Bank receives acclaim at ‘National Best Quality Software Awards’

NDB Bank recently secured a victory at the National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) 2023. The bank was honoured with a merit award in recognition of the excellence of its ‘Secure 360 Security Management Programme’.

NDB’s achievement was in the ‘in-house’ category, which commended the ‘Secure360’ application, a creation developed exclusively by NDB’s IT professionals.

The ‘Secure360’ application operates by providing real-time updates from the National Vulnerability Database, cross-referencing this information with NDB’s technology stack.

It identifies newly released vulnerabilities and promptly assigns them to the respective system administrators for resolution, based on the vulnerability’s criticality and specific timeframes. This proactive approach ensures the swift mitigation of system vulnerabilities, leaving no opportunity for potential attackers to exploit them, thereby maintaining an impeccable infrastructure. The name ‘Secure360’ aptly conveys the comprehensive nature of this security tool.

The 25th edition of the National ICT Awards 2023, held on October 25 under the esteemed patronage of President Ranil Wickremesignhe, was a testament to innovation within the IT industry. This event celebrated pioneering solutions, emphasising their uniqueness, utility and innovative approaches while providing a prominent platform to represent Sri Lanka on a global scale.

NDB Bank CIO Indika Gunawardena said; “We take great pride in our dedicated and skilled IT team, whose hard work and innovative approach led to this significant recognition. The Secure 360 Security Management Programme reflects our commitment to safeguarding our systems and protecting customer data. In recent times, NDB has fortified its infrastructure, systems, and data security with various enhancements and unique solutions.

Notably, NDB IT has achieved dual certifications in ISO27001 for Information Security Management System and ISO22301 for Business Continuity Management System, a first in the banking industry.

NDB Bank is the fourth-largest listed commercial bank in Sri Lanka. The bank was recently named the Retail Bank of the Year (Sri Lanka) at the Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards 2023 and the Best Corporate Bank 2023 by Asiamoney and also emerged as the Most Awarded Corporate in Sri Lanka in 2022 for the second consecutive year, as per the annual rankings of Sri Lankan publication LMD.
