NDF has systematic programme to uplift country – Dr. Rajapakshe
The election manifesto of National Democratic Front (NDF) Presidential candidate Dr. Wijeyedasa Rajapakshe, PC was unveiled in Colombo yesterday (5).
The manifesto of the NDF Presidential candidate titled “Vidimath Ratak” (A Formal Country) was launched at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI) in Colombo 7.
Speaking on the occasion Wijeyedasa Rajapakshe said that there are a large number of children in this country to crown him. He said that his manifesto, even though not running into large volumes similar to the American Constitution which also has only very few pages, has presented the path on how to develop Sri Lanka in his systematic programme stated in it.
The NDF Presidential candidate said that he has not picked up any information from anybody else to create his manifesto nor have any experts created it for him, but has developed it by himself in a very simplified manner for everybody to be able to read it and understand, and is only based on his experience as a man who has lived with the people in the country by feeling their pulse and as a lawyer, because he can understand the feelings and opinions of the people of Sri Lanka.
“Sri Lanka must be developed into a country that adheres to legal authority established in the country and come out from running as a lawless country in order to become a formal country”, Rajapakshe said. Rajapakshe said that in order to transform the country from its bankruptcy state where it was two years ago, 90 percent of the required laws are already developed by him within the last two years and nearly half of them have been implemented, but until the President of the country with executive powers uses these laws for the welfare of the people of the country to the letter, it cannot be said that these laws have been enforced for the development of the country. He said that so far in the present constitution of Sri Lanka, there has not been found a single Executive President in the country who has used the laws of the country for the total welfare of its people.
