New Pakistani HC calls on PM

New Pakistani High Commissioner Major General (Retd.) Faheem Ul Aziz called on Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at Temple Trees on Friday (15).

The High Commissioner thanked the Prime Minister for his felicitations and best wishes sent to newly-elected Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Prime Minister thanked Pakistan for supporting Sri Lanka at international forums and for extending training facilities to the members of Sri Lankan Armed Forces. He discussed the possibility of expanding bilateral ties in economic spheres, investments, tourism and industries. The HC said there is potential for increasing Buddhist pilgrim to Pakistan as sufficient infrastructure facilities have been established in places of pilgrimage such as Thakshila and Gandhara region.

MP Yadamini Gunawardena and Prime Minister’s Secretary Anura Dissanayake and Deputy High Commissioner Wajid Hassan Hashmi also took part in the discussion.
