National Medicine Regulatory Authority (NMRA) Chief Executive Officer Vijith Gunasekara said yesterday that it was confirmed that the Indian company mentioned on the labels of the sub-standard

immunoglobulin vaccine stock that had been brought to Sri Lanka is a company that manufactures garlic-related products and does not manufacture medicinal drugs.

He said that he confirmed this through an email message exchange with the company mentioned on the label of the drug in question and they had confirmed that such a drug has not been exported to Sri Lanka or any other country by that company.

He announced this while participating in the press conference held by the National Drug Regulatory Authority yesterday (11).

A document was prepared forging the signature of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Medicine Regulatory Authority and a stock of 22,500 vials of immunoglobulin injections was recently imported to Sri Lanka. Dr Gunasekara said that information has been investigated regarding the suspected company from which the stock of drugs came from and that place has been closed now.

He also said that the National medicine Regulatory Authority will provide all possible support to bring the people involved in this racket to justice.
